Why to Prefer LED Lights for Commercial Lighting

Many commercial interests are now rethinking on the composition of their lighting systems.  This is a factor that has been brought about by an increase in electricity bills and more emphasis on environmental friendly lighting solutions. As a result, most businesses and organizations are shifting to LED lights for commercial lighting. LED lights are the new trend and bring with them a number of benefits any business can enjoy.

LED is an acronym for Light Emitting Diode, a technology which has been around for sometime only widely used in other electronic devices such as remote controllers. Presently the technology is now used for lighting purposes in residential, commercial and industrial cases. The advantages of this form of lighting are highlighted below.

Energy efficiency

Energy efficiency in a lighting system refers to the ability of the system to convert much of the input into output. In bulbs, for example, the energy used to turn it on should be used for lighting. Unfortunately, traditional lights only produce 20% of the power they use in to light. The rest is wasted on heating. However, LED lights convert over 90% of the power used to turn them on into light with no energy lost as dissipated heat.

This property makes commercial LED lighting energy efficient. They are also safe to use in any environment since they do not pose the risk of burning nearby objects. They are thus appropriate to use in closets and racks where traditional bulbs would have burnt up. Without much heat being released to the environment, you also save on the energy spent on air conditioners. This also increases the life span of the air conditioners as they are not overworked.

Long life

Commercial lighting needs require lighting products with longer life spans. This saves on the need for constant replacements. It also ensures business is not interfered with due to abrupt blackouts.  In other instances such a black out could be hazardous and cause accidents. With commercial LED lighting you have a life span of about 100,000 hours. This is several times more than any other product in the market. Most conventional bulbs only last about twenty weeks when with 100,000 hrs, an LED bulb lighting 8 hours a day will grant you a minimum of 20 years.

With such long life, you save a lot on the need for maintenance and replacements. They provide reliability and you can tell when the bulbs are due for replacement. This is because unlike other bulbs and lights, LED lights gradually fade out.

Eco friendly

LED commercial lighting have no dangerous emissions to the environment while on. When you want to dispose them they will not pose any hazard since they do not contain mercury and other harmful chemicals. Since they do not use a lot of energy, they can be powered by green energy sources such as solar power. This form of commercial lighting has negligible emission of UV rays which makes it ideal for areas where UV could be destructive.
